Below you can find detailed descriptions of different permissions.

For some areas, there are no separate permissions. For example editing and viewing activities has limitations that are based on project membership or supervisor-employee relationship.

Customers and contacts

Limit employees' visibility to customers, contacts and address data.

Setting this permission to None overrides Projects and Joining to projects permissions and user is no longer able view or edit projects, invoices, proposals or resourcing.

Permission Description
None Cannot add, view, edit or delete customers, addresses, contacts or projects.

Cannot create or view Customers or Contacts reports.

Cannot add activities to customers or projects.
Read-only Can view all customers, addresses or contacts.

Can create and view Customers and Contacts reports without financial data.

Can create activities for customers.
Edit Can add, edit and delete all customers, addresses or contacts.

+ "Can" permissions from previous levels.
All Can report financial data on Customers report.

+ "Can" permissions from previous levels.
Allow to delete customers Checkbox is activated when permission level is either Edit or All.

Projects

Limit employees' visibility to projects, phases, files, invoicing, proposals (add-on), resourcing (add-on), revenue (add-on) and various reports.

Permission Description
None Can enter work hours, travels and products to projects where user is project member or project manager.

Cannot add, view, edit or delete projects, phases, files, invoices, proposals (add-on) or resourcing (add-on).

Cannot add activities to projects.

Cannot recognize revenue (add-on).

Cannot view project or invoice data in action history (add-on).

Cannot create or view following reports: Case analysis, Cases, Files, Financial summary, Financial timeline, Invoice rows, Invoices, Item analysis, Items, Phases or Proposals.
Project member, no rights to own financial data Cannot add new projects.

Can enter work hours, travels and products to projects where user is project member or project manager.

Can view projects where user is project member.

Can view, edit and delete projects where user is project manager.

Can add, view, edit and delete phases, files, invoices, proposals (add-on) or resourcing (add-on) for projects where user is project manager.

Can recognize revenue (add-on) for projects where user is project manager.

Can view project data in action history (add-on).

Can add, view, edit and delete activities for projects where user is project owner or project member.

If user has subordinates, has access to subordinates projects as if he was project manager of those projects.Subordinates can be in different business units.

Can create and view following reports when project manager: Case analysis, Cases, Files, Financial summary, Financial timeline, Invoice rows, Invoices, Item analysis, Items, Phases or Proposals.

User cannot see any financial information.User cannot see prices and costs of own work hours or own KPI's which are based on financial data.
Project member Cannot add new projects.

Can enter work hours, travels and products to projects where user is project member or project manager.

Can view projects where user is project member.

Can view, edit and delete projects where user is project manager.

Can add, view, edit and delete phases, files, invoices, proposals (add-on) or resourcing (add-on) for projects where user is project manager.

Can recognize revenue (add-on) for projects where user is project manager.

Can view project data in Action history.

Can add, view, edit and delete activities for projects where user is project manager or project member.

If user has subordinates, has access to subordinates projects as if he was project manager of those projects. Subordinates can be in different business units.

When user is a project member, he cannot see financial data on Cases report.
Project manager, no rights to project's financial data Can add new projects.

Cannot recognize revenue (add-on) for projects where user is project manager.

Can enter work hours, travels and products to projects where user is project member or project manager.

Can view projects where user is project member.

Can view without financial data, edit and delete projects where user is project manager.

Can add, view, edit and delete phases, files, proposals or resourcing for projects where user is project manager.

Can view project data in Action history.

Can add, view, edit and delete activities for projects where user is project manager or project member.

If user has subordinates, has access to subordinates projects as if he was project manager of those projects. Subordinates can be in different business units.

Following reports are hidden: Financial summary, Financial timeline, Invoice rows, Invoices, Purchase orders.

Cannot report financial data on other reports.
Project manager Can enter work hours, travels and products to projects where user is project member or project manager.

Can view projects where user is project member.

Can add, view, edit and delete projects where user is project manager.

Can add, view, edit and delete phases, files, invoices, proposals (add-on) or resourcing (add-on) for projects where user is project manager.

Can recognize revenue (add-on) for projects where user is project manager.

Can view project data in action history (add-on).

Can add, view, edit and delete activities for projects where user is project owner or project member.

If user has subordinates, has access to subordinates projects as if he was project manager of those projects. Subordinates can be in different business units.

Can report all project-related information when project manager and cannot view financial data when project member.
Projects in own business unit Acts as a project manager to projects belonging to same business unit (or it's sub units) as user belongs to.

Same permissions apply than for Project manager.
All Acts as a project manager to all projects.
Allow to delete projects Checkbox is activated when permission level is Project manager, no rights to project's financial data or higher.
Allow to create, edit and delete own resource allocations User with permissions can create, edit and delete own resource allocations.

Joining to project

Define if employees can add themselves as members to project. Join link appears on the Time & Expenses view.

Permission Description
Cannot join Cannot join to projects.
Own business unit Can join to projects that are in own business unit.
Any project Can join to all projects.

Users

Limit employees' visibility to user management and work hours.

Permission Description
None Can enter work hours, travels and products to projects where user is project member or project owner.

Can add, view, edit and delete activities.

Can report only own work hours.

Can create and view following reports: Activities, User analysis, Work hour summary.

Cannot view user data in Action history.
Edit subordinates Can enter work hours, travels and products to projects where user is project member or project owner.

Can add, view, edit and delete subordinates' work hours, activities and absences (out of office -type activities).

Can report own and subordinates work hours.

Can create and view following reports: Activities, Time entries, User analysis, Resourcing reports, Work hours by case, Work hour analysis, Work hour list, Work hour summary, Work hour matrix.

Can edit subordinates' user details in User management.

Can view user data in Action history.
Add and edit subordinates Can add new users.

+ "Can" permissions from previous level.
All Can add new and edit existing users.

Can enter work hours, travels and products to projects where user is project member or project owner.

Can add, view, edit, delete and report work hours, activities and absences for all users.

Invoicing

Limit to which invoice status employee can set invoices to. For example you can define that project managers are able to create invoices into draft, and perhaps even sent them, but only business controller can mark the invoice paid.

Permission Description
Any status When user is project owner with permissions to invoices, user can change invoice status to any of the active statuses.
Status selected When user is a project owner with permissions to invoices, user can change invoice status only to the selected status and statuses ordered before it (in the list of invoice statuses).

When user doesn't have permissions to certain invoice status, he is not able to edit the invoice, change settings of an invoice, credit the invoice or create a reminder of the invoice.
Allow to use scheduled invoicing Separate permission to allow users to access automated invoicing feature.

Work hour approval

Appears when work hour approval has been enabled. Give supervisors and managers permissions to approve employees' work hours and project managers permissions to approve hours for their own projects.

Permission Description
None Cannot approve work hours.
Subordinates Overrides Users permission regarding visibility to work hours.

Can view and approve subordinates' work hours.
Own and subordinates Can view and approve own and subordinates' work hours.
Own business unit Can approve work hours of users who are in the same business unit.

Can approve own work hours.

Cannot approve hours of subordinates who are in a different business unit.
All Can approve work hours of all users.
As a project manager, can approve work hours from own projects Separate permission for project managers to approve hours for their own projects.

Travel reimbursement

Appears when Travel reimbursement add-on is enabled. Gives permissions for employees to create travel reimbursements and for supervisors and managers to approve them.

Permission Description
None Cannot add, view, report or approve travel reimbursements.
Create Can add travel reimbursements for self.

Can report own travel reimbursements.

Cannot approve travel reimbursements.
Approve subordinates Can add travel reimbursements for self.

Can report own and subordinates', and approve subordinates' travel reimbursements.
Approve own business unit Can add travel reimbursements for self.

Can report and approve travel reimbursements of users who are in the same business unit.

Cannot report or approve travel reimbursements of subordinates who are in a different business unit.
All Can add travel reimbursements for self.

Can report and approve travel reimbursements of all users, including own.

Report and dashboard sharing

Give permissions to sharing to create shared reports and dashboards.

Permission Description
None Can see shared reports and dashboards, but cannot create them.
Sharing is allowed Can see, create and edit shared reports and dashboards.

Settings and features

Give access to manage organization's settings and subscription and to do data imports.

Permission Description
None Cannot access Settings, Upgrades, Data transfer, Data imports.
Edit settings Can access Settings and edit all organization settings.
Edit settings and manage subscription & features Can access Upgrades, Data transfer, Data imports and Settings, and edit all organization settings.

SOAP API

Rights to SOAP API appear under user's permissions when company has purchased an add-on that uses API. User with appropriate permissions is used to transfer data between Severa and third party software.

Because API access is per person, API is enabled on user level, not in permission profiles.

People with permissions to manage users can enable API in user's details, but they cannot create the API key. This can be done only by the user themself.

Users' other permissions define to which data integration has access to.

Permission Description
Not allowed User cannot authenticate integration.
Allowed User can create API key to authenticate integration.
