Overtime types allow you to multiply hours worked outside of regular working hours. In the overtime type settings, you can choose whether overtime affects the hour entry price and flextime. Overtime is work that is done in addition to daily or weekly hours.

Depending on the company policy, overtime can be compensated either as salary or as time off. The overtime type setting Accumulates flextime defines how overtime is compensated. The multipliers defined in the settings affect only hour entries. If you want to invoice entries with an increased price, the overtime type multipliers must also be defined in the price list.

For example, if an employee user enters one hour of overtime with a 50% multiplier that accumulates flextime, the user's total flextime increases by 1.5 hours. If the overtime does not accumulate flextime, the employee user is entitled to 50% compensation. The right to enter overtime is defined in the employee user's work contract.

Manage existing overtime types or add new ones in the company settings with administrator rights:

  1. Go to the cogwheel icon and select Settings > Work time, travel expense & product registries > Overtime types

  3. Edit existing overtime types by opening the desired overtime type, change the details and finally Save the changes

How do I enter overtime?

For a user to be able to enter overtime, overtime entry must be allowed in the user's work contract. A supervisor or administrator can define the Overtime allowed selection for the user's work contract via User management:

  1. Go to the cogwheel icon and select User management
  2. Open the desired user's profile by clicking the user's name
  3. Go to Work contracts
  4. Open an existing work contract or create new work contract if the employee user's work contract changes also in other details
    • Please note that if factors affecting the employee user's working time, such as role, cost per hour, total flextime settings, daily hours or weekly workdays change, you must create a completely new work contract with new definitions.
  5. Tick the checkbox Overtime allowed and remember to finally Save the information
