Changes to Severa login after 10.12.2017 product release.

There will be changes to Severa login after 10.12.2017 product release. After the release Visma Connect is used for login.

Why the change is done?

Main reason for this is to get better and more secure password policy for Severa users. You also get Single sign-on between all systems that are in Connect, so with same credentials user can access Severa, Financials, eAccounting, Community and so on, depending which systems they use.

This also enables Google authentication for all users (Needs that Severa credentials are also in Google).

What changes?

This change affects multiple places. First the current login page is changed to new layout. User also needs to change password, update personal information and add profile picture.

After the release the password needs to meet the following policy:

  • Minimum 8 characters
  • At least one uppercase
  • At least one lowercase
  • At least one number
  • At least one special character

There are also changes to email handling in Severa. When Visma Connect is used the email address field is locked. Email address can be changed from Tools > Personal details > Change email address or if you are admin and want to change email for other user you can go to Tools > User management > selected user > Change email address. Change requires user to add current password. Note that you can't change the email that is already used in Visma Connect.

Also the temporary password feature is no longer used. When user clicks "Forgot your password?" the following email is send.

By pressing the "Enter new password" user can change the password that meets to new password policy.

How you can login after the change?

There are couple of options regarding the login after the change and it depends on if Visma Connect is used before.

Option 1: Existing user: Logging in when credentials already exist in Connect

In this case user cannot login to Severa after the release with Severa credentials. If user tries to access with Severa credentials, error "Email or password is not recognized" appears. In this case user needs to use Visma Connect credentials for login.

When user enters Visma Connect credentials:

  • User is prompted to select organization, if same email is in multiple companies.
  • User is prompted to update his personal details and his profile picture.
  • User can then access Severa.

Option 2: Existing user: Logging in when Severa password meets Connect’s password policy

In this case when Severa credentials are not in Visma Connect and user login with Severa password, the password is saved into Connect and:

  • User is prompted to select organization, if same email is in multiple companies.
  • User is prompted to update his personal details and his profile picture.
  • User can then access Severa.

Option 3: Existing user: Logging in when Severa password doesn’t meet Connect’s password policy

In this case when Severa credentials are not in Visma Connect and user login with Severa password that doesn't meet the new password recuirements user is informed that due to changed security policy, he needs to enter a new password. After user has changed the password:

  • User is prompted to select organization, if same email is in multiple companies.
  • User is prompted to update his personal details and his profile picture.
  • User can then access Severa.

One email and password to all Severa companies

Users might now get "Select organization" prompt if the email address has been used in some other Severa environment so after login they get following view.

Companies are categorized into paid, free, in trial and trial ended sections and user can select correct company. All companies where trial has ended more than 30 days ago will be inactivated so they won’t show on select organization screen.

Updating user details afterwards

Visma Connect owns the following user information: Email, password, name, phone number, country and language. This means, that if any of the above information is updated in any of the systems that are in Connect, the changes are reflected in Severa also.

Also if user updates personal details like name or address in one Severa company it will change the information in all Severa companies where the same email is used. User can also change password inside Severa and the screen will display Connect’s password policy.
