The Top menu is the navigation bar located at the top in Visma Severa. It includes eight buttons: Home, New, Browse, Reports, Tools, History, Serach box, Help and Logout.


The Top menu appears on every page in Visma Severa, and serves as a means to navigate through the system. All of the buttons except Home and Logout reveal drop-down menus when the cursor is rolled over, and through these menus you can create new or access existing accounts, cases and invoices as well as locate reports, settings and other relevant information.

The Home button is the Visma logo at left, and it provides a direct link to your Dashboard.

The New button is the place to go anytime you want to create data such as a new account, a new case, a new report, a new user or a new activity.

Most of the options in the New drop-down menu open a blank form that makes it easy to create new data even if you don’t have all of the information on hand. Some options take you there through another route, for example clicking Invoice displays a list of cases with a breakdown of billable expenses. Simply check the Account you wish to bill, and click Create invoices to review the invoice.

Access Work hours through New and you will be directed to the work hour entry form. The form will be empty, unless you already entered hours which will show in the grid below. Similarly, you can access previous work hour entries by clicking on dates in the calendar. New hours can be entered and previous entries can be edited according to Advanced time tracking and other restrictions defined by your company.

Browse provides direct access to various listings such as Active accounts, Contacts, Open sales cases, Open cases, Work hours last 30 days, Travel reimbursements last 30 day, Files and Invoices last 30 days for a quick overview. The desired account or file can be located and opened, or the report itself can be modified and saved for future reference.

The Reports button offers access to the Report gallery and lists all of your favorite reports for quick access. Go to the Report gallery for an overview of existing reports, report management tools and the ability to create new reports. Reports marked as a Favorite in the gallery are listed in the Reports drop-down menu with an icon to identify the type of report.

Tools are forms, data and actions that define how Visma Severa works. For example, it’s extremely important that information on the Personal details page is maintained for every person in the system so that their calendar functions correctly, their access rights are applicable and they receive notices at the correct email address. Settings, Data transfer, Account import and Advanced time tracking are other significant features located in the Tools menu, but these options may not be visible to some people due to Access rights. And, through Modify links to external websites can be added to the Tools menu.

History gives you quick access to the 10 pages you visited most recently in Visma Severa. Accounts, Cases, Proposals, Travel reimbursements, Reports and Activities are listed with icons to easily identify the information you need most.

Click on the Search box and start typing a name, word or number to locate the desired information. It’s alright if you don’t know the exact spelling, simply type two or three characters and hit Enter on your keyboard. Visma Severa will start looking for you, and return all results containing the searched sequence.

  • Accounts are located by Name, Account number or Business ID (VAT number).
  • Cases are located by Name, Short name, Account name, Case number or Case keyword.
  • Contacts are located by First name, Last name, email address, telephone or mobile number.
  • Files are located by Name, Description or Content type.
  • Invoices are located by Invoice number, Reference number, Account name, Case name or Case short name.

How to search

  1. Click on the Search box, and type part (at least three characters) or all of the word or number you wish to locate.
  2. Search starts automatically after 3 characters are given. Matching results will display below delimited by category.
  3. Use the cursor to scroll down and hover on a result to reveal additional information in a tooltip.
  4. Click to select a result and be taken to the related page. Or, click Show all on a category header to be directed to a report listing all matching results in that category.


For example, searching for a case that starts with the number 100 might produce many results. There may be results in every category including Accounts, Cases, Contacts, Files and Invoices. The best five matches in each category will display in the result drop-down menu. If you don't see the case that you were looking for, click Show all in the case category header and you will be directed to a report listing all results in the case category that contain the number 100. On the report, visually locate and click to open the desired case.

Logout closes your current session and redirects your browser back to the Login page at Simply Login again to get back to work in Visma Severa.
